Small Mammal Conservation Organization aka SMACON pioneered the data-smart, fast firefighter model as the first pilot program in the alliance. The model has been incredibly successful in intact forests and farms in Nigeria, with a track record of zero wildfire for five years as of April 2026.
Tropical Fire is scaling a portable and adaptable version of the SMACON model across the tropics. SMACON continues to expand and adapt its program to other sites in Nigeria.
