The Role

We're looking for a Program Manager to evaluate and support early-adopters who partner with Tropical Fire to deploy a multidimensional wildfire management model. Responsibilities will evolve over time, and we are looking for flexible team members with a positive, can-do attitude.

About Tropical Fire Alliance

Tropical Fire Alliance is a new initiative working with in-country partners to stop tropical forests from burning—and return them to their critical role as carbon sinks. Tropical Fire is scaling a successful model across the world's three major tropical forest blocks, with a 10-year goal to cut tropical wildfires in half, by supporting forest communities, and implementing partners (non-governmental organizations) to protect forest areas and local livelihoods.

 

Key Responsibilities

Partner evaluation

• Evaluate partner and program implementation fit.

• Lead partner assessment and onboarding.

• Review and refine partner evaluation criteria and processes.

• Negotiate scope, budget, and deliverables in partner agreements or MOUs.

Program delivery & technical support

• Work with partners to access approved funds and equipment, data products, and design science/technical support plans.

• Liaise with the technology team on deployment of risk-mapping or early-warning tools at partner sites.

• Ensure partner awareness of resources across the Alliance.

• Troubleshoot implementation in the field and propose corrective action plans.

• Help refine partner support based on feedback and field learnings.

• Collaborate with regional coordinators on site visits to partner locations.

 

Monitoring, data & reporting

• Design or refine M&E frameworks and KPIs alongside the data team.

• Draft quarterly/annual reports for donors and board.

• Collaborate with the team to develop case studies or impact stories from the field.

 

Cross-team & strategic contributions

• Represent Tropical Fire at conferences, donor meetings, or partner convenings.

• Contribute to budget planning and forecasting for the partner portfolio.

• Support fundraising proposals with programmatic content and partner stories.

 

Education and experience

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in any field.

• A minimum of three years' experience working with an environmental/conservation non-profit.

• Prior experience with project management and coordination.

The Program Manager reports to the Program/Executive Directors.

Functional teams: partner discovery, engagement, and communications.

 

Compensation

$35–$45 per hour, commensurate with experience (based on a full-time 40-hour work week).
