Operations Coordinator
Six-month contract, part-time, with potential to transition to full-time.
Project Location: US-based, remote. Position available to be filled immediately.
The Role
We're looking for an Operations Coordinator to help take the Tropical Fire model go to scale, by developing Finance, HR, and compliance systems. Responsibilities will evolve over time, and we are looking for flexible team members with a positive, can-do attitude.
About Tropical Fire Alliance
Tropical Fire Alliance is a new initiative working with in-country partners to stop tropical forests from burning—and return them to their critical role as carbon sinks. Tropical Fire is scaling a successful model across the world's three major tropical forest blocks, with a 10-year goal to cut tropical wildfires in half by supporting forest communities and implementing partners (non-governmental organizations) to protect forest areas and local livelihoods.
Key Responsibilities
Human resource management

Manage staff administration, required training, and compliance.

Coordinate employee recruitment, onboarding, documentation, and employment changes.

Coordinate staff remuneration and manage administration through payroll technology.
Organisational operations and compliance

Drive organisational compliance for Tropical Fire, ensuring required policies and regulatory obligations are maintained.

Support financial operations and maintain accurate beneficiary and grant records.

Oversee accounting and financial administration through QuickBooks.

Integrate operational and reporting systems
Partner grant management

Manage implementation grants to partners, including grant administration, monitoring, and financial oversight.

Coordinate partner grant processes from application and due diligence through disbursement, implementation, reporting, and close-out.
Education and experience

Bachelor’s degree in finance, mathematics or allied fields.

A minimum of three years' experience working with an environmental/conservation non-profit.

Prior experience coordinating HR, finance, and compliance for a US-based organization.

The Operations Coordinator reports to the Program/Executive Directors
Functional teams: Development, communications, and operations teams.
Compensation
$27-35/hr, commensurate with experience (based on a full-time 40-hour work week).
